James Suckling Reviews of 2018 GSM and 2018 High Canyon Syrah

James Suckling recently reviewed wines from Washington State. The reviews can be found on his site jamessuckling.com (subscription required). Here's what he had to say about a couple of LIMINAL's inaugural release wines:

2018 GSM     94 points

"Aromas of brambleberries, rosemary, lavender, cracked pepper and stones. Lemon zest, white pepper and spice, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with tight-grained tannins and bright acidity. Wild, savory and zesty. Flavorful finish with good length. Drink now or hold."

2018 High Canyon Syrah     94 points

"Spiced cherries, salted plums, dried mint, violets, peppercorns and smoked meat on the nose. It’s full-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Rich and savory with fresh acidity and a long, vivid finish. Drink or hold."

Jeb Dunnuck Reviews

2019 GSM    93-95+

"Deep ruby/purple, the 2019 GSM WeatherEye Vineyard is loaded with notions of black and blueberry fruits, notes of peppery herbs, blood orange, and candied violets, medium to full body, ripe, velvety tannins, and a great finish. It's a seriously good-looking barrel sample. This cuvée is 38% Grenache, 36% Syrah, and 26% Mourvèdre, aged in concrete eggs and 500-liter French oak."

2019 High Canyon Grenache    95-97

"It’s just a barrel sample, but my money is on the 2019 Grenache WeatherEye Vineyard High Canyon being one of the top Grenaches in Washington in 2019. Thrilling black raspberry and candied cherry fruits as well as incense, violets, and chalky minerality all give way to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, elegant, yet still powerful Grenache that does everything right. Don’t miss a chance to try this beauty."

2019 High Canyon Syrah    94-96

"The 2019 Syrah WeatherEye Vineyard High Canyon, which includes 4% Viognier, is another full-bodied, expansive, incredibly impressive Syrah from this team that readers should snatch up if given the chance. Lots of raspberry and blue fruits, candied violets, orange blossom, and floral notes all emerge from the glass, and it’s velvety, full-bodied, balanced, and has sound underlying structure."

2019 Block 16 Syrah     96-97+

"The 2019 Syrah WeatherEye Vineyard Block 16 displays the classic peppery, gamey, violets-laced profile of Syrah as well as medium to full-bodied richness on the palate. Seamless, flawlessly balanced, and with tannins just about as good as they get as well as a great mid-palate, I finished my note with “awesome.”"

2019 Block 47 Cabernet Sauvignon     96-98

"Another powerful, dense, incredibly impressive wine, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Block 47 (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) offers a great perfume of cassis, scorched earth, and chocolate. It’s loaded with ripe, opulent fruit yet has plenty of tannins hiding under all its baby fat."

2019 Block 10 Cabernet Franc     94-96+

"The 2019 Cabernet Franc Block 10 is another 100% varietal from winemaker Chris Peterson that does everything right. Offering slightly lifted notes of blue fruits, violets, and flowers, it has a more modern, opulent vibe than most wines from Chris yet still has classic Cabernet Franc complexity as well as ripe, polished tannins and terrific balance."
