Introducing, Liminal Winery.

Red Mountain Elevated project announces Liminal, the first winery focused solely on the acclaimed AVA’s most unique vineyard, WeatherEye.

Hello Friends of Avennia,

Today, we are excited to reveal the name and packaging design for our Red Mountain Elevated project. Introducing Liminal.

As from the beginning of Avennia back in 2010, we had the pleasure of working with Joe Chauncey, principal at boxwood to create our brand designs and graphic look and feel. Sitting down with Joe is always a pleasure as he has a tremendous collaborative style that makes the creative process so much fun.

When the Avennia team asked Boxwood to develop a new brand they were embarking on a grand experiment.  Together with their vineyard partners, they were seeking answers to the questions, ‘What if? Why not?’  Answers that may lie in the ‘liminal’ space between the past and the future - a sensory threshold where they can simultaneously reflect on what they have learned and open their minds to new possibilities with greater clarity of thought and purpose,”  said Chauncey. “It is at this liminal point where the wine brand was born allowing the winery and the vineyard to become one – where they can share goals, explore new ways to express ‘place’ and reach beyond their collective grasp.”

The Red Mountain Elevated website has been relaunched to reflect the new Liminal name and design elements, with associated social media sites updated as well (no need to re-follow those accounts). Please note, our new email address is hello@liminal.com. Don't miss any important news - make sure to add the new email address to your whitelist.

On August 15th, as part of the Auction of Washington Wines annual private barrel auction, we are delighted to share a barrel sample publicly for the first time. Some lucky bidder will have an opportunity to secure five cases of the first vintage of Liminal's Canyon Block Syrah.

As of this Spring, the Liminal production and operations has been relocated to its own dedicated space in Woodinville, not far from Avennia's production space in the area known as Artisan Hills in the Warehouse District.

Barrel Tasting Event Scheduled for Saturday, March 28th

Save the date. This invitation-only, private event will be hosted at the production facility in Woodinville to preview the wines prior to bottling. Allocations will be offered at this time and the wines will be released in late 2020 or early 2021.

As previously stated, the response to our original public announcement in September 2018 was overwhelming and as a result, Liminal's Tier 1 allocations list is closed. Those interested can register for the Tier 2 wait list here.

Red Mountain Elevated News and Upcoming Dates

Greetings from the Red Mountain Elevated Team. Now that our first harvest is complete and the wines are settling in for barrel aging, we wanted to take a few minutes to share our first update with you.

TIER ONE CLOSED, TIER TWO OPEN

First and foremost, thank you!  The response to the announcement of the Red Mountain Elevated project has been, frankly, overwhelming.  Our Tier 1 allocations list is now closed and we have started Tier 2 wait list. We are confident that we have produced enough wine to be able to offer an allocation to all of Tier 1 of the first vintage when the wines are ready for release in late 2020 or early 2021 - more on that later. Those on the Tier 2 will be offered an allocation in the order of registration, if wine remains after the initial offer.

HARVEST UPDATE

The 2018 harvest was a great success and for this initial vintage the fruit is composed solely of Rhône varieties. We are impressed with the color and structure of both the Syrah and Grenache and look forward to seeing the wine evolve in the aging process. Some Viognier was also brought in that we believe, even at this early phase, represents the some of the best we have ever tasted from Washington State.

VINEYARD NAMED

In case you missed the news, Cameron Myhrvold and Ryan Johnson have adopted the WeatherEye Vineyard moniker as the name of the vineyard going forward. Our wine will carry the WeatherEye Vineyard designation when released.

FIRST TASTE, AT TASTE WA

We have been invited to preview the first wines from this vineyard on March 30 at the Taste Washington Seminar, Extreme Viticulture: Higher, Deeper, Bolder, moderated by Sean Sullivan from the Wine Enthusiast.  Ryan Johnson of WeatherEye Vineyard will sit on the panel with Chris and Marty in attendance.  A barrel sample of the 2018 vintage Grenache will be offered for attendees to try. A first and exclusive preview!

Tickets for this seminar go fast so sign up soon if they haven’t sold out already.  More information here: https://ticketing.sagacitymedia.com/f/taste-washington-2019/saturday-seminars
